Olle - Iceland

The vätte is an old figure from Nordic folklore and is considered one of the predecessors of the Swedish tomte. Traditionally, the vätte was believed to watch over the farm and the people who lived there.

In Åsas Tomtebod’s interpretation, the vätte wears its hat pulled down over the face, with no visible eyes. Olle is our largest vätte and is named after Åsa’s father, who has always been big and strong. Olle has a soft body in wool fabric, a felted wool hat and details in Icelandic sheepskin.

The vätte belongs to the home throughout the year rather than only to the Christmas season.
