Design and manufacturing

Our design and choice of materials are the starting point for everything we do. Our gnomes are handmade from natural materials and produced in small batches. This is how we have always worked – and how we continue to work.

All our products are designed by us in Sweden, and the majority are also made here. We also work with a skilled manufacturer in Bosnia who helps us felt hats, sew bodies and assemble certain models.

The making of each piece begins with the materials. Wool is felted, shaped and worked by hand. Felting a hat is a craft that takes considerable time to master. Sheepskin, wood and other natural materials are carefully selected and used in ways that allow their natural qualities to become part of the design. Every stage requires time, attention and experience.

Every gnome varies slightly in shape and expression. Small differences in texture and colour are a natural result of working by hand and of the natural materials we use.

Production follows the craft, not the other way around. This means that production times can vary and availability may sometimes be limited. Making our gnomes is not a separate part of what we do. It is the foundation of everything we do.
